Terrain:
North and south terrain not important,

In the W there is a Forest, 5+ cover, difficult terrain
In the center there is a ruin, 4+ cover, size 1 difficult terrain (see over it)
In the E there is a forest, 5+ cover, difficult terrain

Mission: Gamma Recon
Following the destruction of the Bulldog's force the situation in Kiekran had become critical. Having heard the testimony of the Chapter master of the Bulldogs the Space Wolf strike force had determined to attempt the same strike that had prooved so costly for their brethren. They approached along the same tunnels, and sure enough the Deceiver had arrogantly neglected to reinforce the Scarab producing Tomb Spyders. Upon spying the approaching Space Wolves the alien God proclaimed that none would be permitted to survive.

Space Wolf Deployment:
In the far NW corner the Wolf Lord deployed on his bike, north of some cover, nearby him Long Fangs A deploy along with the Rune Priest. To the East of center Wolves A & B deploy as far south as possible. East of them, and hidden behind some trees Wulfen A & B deploy, with the Wolf Priest joining Wulfen A. To the far east, right along the edge, deploys Wolves C.

Necron deployment:
Tomb Spyder A deployed to the far west, slightly east of it deployed the destroyer cloud (all 3 destroyer units). In the center the other 8 tomb spyders lined up, with the Deceiver on the far east of the line. Behind the Tomb Spyder line Warriors A and Warriors B were lined up. On the west end of the tomb spyder line were the immortals, and on the east end of the tomb spyder line, right by the edge of the map were the Pariahs.

Scout move: All space wolves except Wolves A, B and C and Wulfen A and B surge south.
Grand Illusion: Destroyers get a better angle on Wolves A.

Roll for first: Necrons (I've had like 4 games in a row that were Gamma Recon with Necrons going first, its surreal)

Turn 1:As the warriors of the thirteenth company closed with their unliving prey the animate skeletons turned their deadly weaponry on the stout fenrisian companions, slaying great numbers of them. The Wulfen and Wolves swept on, however, heedless of both the slaughter and the visions the Deceiver used to attempt to force them to flee. They struck at the C'tan itself, with lascannon and claw damaging it severely. The Rune priest used his rituals to deliver the meltaguns of the long claws to the vulnerable flank of the Necron forces, striking down their skimmers as the wolves surged around them, eager to slay.

Necron movement: All necrons move north except for Destroyers and Warriors. Eastern edge of the Tomb line doesn't move very far, idea is not to get charged this round, Deceiver bulges out of the line though.

Necron shooting: Immortals, Pariahs and Destroyers A, B and C all fire on Wolf packs. 12 Wolves A die, 6 wolves B die, and 5 wolves C die. Deceiver fails to fear anyone away.

Necron assaulting: All Tomb Spyders create scarabs, Tomb Spyder C & D take a wound.

Space Wolf movement: Long fangs A teleport to the SW of the destroyer cloud, in range of their melta guns. Wolves & Wulfen surge south. Wolf Lord bikes south, remaining behind cover, but drawing nearer.

Space Wolf Shooting: 1 of Destroyer C is shot down by melta weapons, wolves fleet south. Deceiver takes a wound from Long fangs B's lascannons.

Space Wolf Assaulting: Wulfen A charge Deceiver, overlapping onto Tomb Spyder C & D and their scarabs. They kill both Tomb Spyders and their scarabs, and wound the Deceiver again. He kills 2 of Wulfen A in return, and stick around to fight. Wolves A and B charge Destroyers A, killing 2 and sweeping the last, Wolves B consolidating into Destroyers B.

Turn 2:The joy of battle turned to dread as the Tomb Spyders made their presence felt . They intervened all across the battlefield, spewing force their wretched offspring and striking down the Sons of Russ with their enormous talons. The God departed the battle with the first Wulfen after felling their Rune Priest, heading toward the eastern flank, arriving just as the Wulfen slew the last of the loathsome Pariahs.

Necron WBB: 2 Destroyers get up, join Destroyers B.

Necron movement: The Tomb line surrounds Wulfen A/The Deceiver fight. Immortals move north, Pariahs stand ground. Destroyers B move away to the SW.

Necron shooting: Destroyers B & Immortals fire on Long Fangs B, killing them all. Warriors A & B kill 1 of Wolves A (1 left), Pariahs kill 4 Wolves C.

Necron Assaulting: Deceiver kills the Wolf Priest, 6 Wulfen A are killed in the sea of Tomb Spyders, 2 (b, C) of whom get disengaged when they can't get into combat after the pile-in. Tomb Spyder A over on the western flank makes a scarab and charges Long Fangs A and the Rune priest, killing 2 Long fangs and losing some scarabs. Destroyers B kill 1 member of Wolves B, and route them.

Space Wolf movement: The Wolf Lord bikes SW, Wolves B moves back south. Wolves C & Wulfen B surge south, right toward Pariahs. Long Fangs A teleport to the North of immortals.

Space Wolf shooting: Long Fangs A shoot immortals, kill 2.

Space Wolf assault: Wolf Lord & Wolves B charge Destroyers B, kill them all. Wolves A charge Destroyers, no kills happen. Wulfen B charge Pariahs, kill them all. Tomb Spyders kill several Wulfen A, Wulfen A kill scarabs.

Turn 3:The cunning and courage of the Sons of Russ had been in no way diminished by their transformation into Wulfen, they swarmed upon the golden statued, striking scores of telling blows. The Deceiver's necrodermis cracked and shattered, and the God fell. Scarcely had the first victory howls occurred, however, when the God's fallen form erupted in an explosion the magnitude of which no Space Wolf had seen since the Black Crusades, slaying the Wulfen squad around it.

Necron movement: Tomb Spyder A comes east to catch Wolf Lord, Immortals and 2 freed Tomb Spyders (B, C) go toward Long Fangs A. Deceiver moves to the north of Wulfen B. Warriors B & C move to the east, standing near Wulfen B.

Necron shooting: Warriors C kill the remainder of Wolves C. Immortals kill Wolves B. Deceiver fails to scare Wulfen B. Warriors A kill 3 of Wulfen B.

Assault: Deceiver charges Wulfen B, kills 2. They deal 3 wounds back, slaying deceiver. His explosion kills 9, leaving 1 left. Tomb Spyders B and C attack Long Fangs, killing all but the Rune Priest. Tomb Spyder A and his scarabs attack the Wolf Lord, dealing 2 wounds and losing his scarabs. Wolf A and Destroyers B fight to a draw.

Space Wolf movement: Rune priest teleports south of Warriors B, Wulfen B moves west to directly east of warriors A.

Space wolf shooting: None

Space wolf assault: The last member of Wulfen A is felled by Tomb Spyders. The Wolf Lord kills Tomb Spyder A. Wulfen A charges Warriors A, drawn combat.

Turn 4: Isolated amidst a sea of foes the Space Wolves sold their lives dearly

Necron movement: None of importance

Necron shooting: Warriors B rapid fire rune priest to death. Immortals fire on Wolf Lord.

Necron assault: Wulfen B kills a Warrior.

Space wolf movement: Wolf Lord gets near Immortals.

Space Wolf Shooting: None

Space wolf Assault: Wolf lord assaults immortals, kills 4 and sweeps the rest.

Turn 5: The fall of Kierkran occurred mere moments after the fall of the Xenos' golden leader.

Necron movement: All the tomb spyders left (5ish) and their scarabs surround wolf lord.
Necron shooting: None
Necron assault: Warriors A finish off Wulfen B, Destroyers B kill Wolf A, tomb spyders kill Wolf Lord.

Necron Victorious slaughter.

(Keep these up! It's great to see some Necron batrep's, +1, Mal)

Default Re: [BatRep]MechGodzilla Necrons vs. Space Wolves 2k

A VERY different battle from my last, from all shooty to all assault. This pressed my list much harder, as my Warriors felt very vulnerable all game long, and my destroyers couldn't shoot once the wolves locked them up. The thirteenth company remains my nemesis.

The C'tan, however, is beyond compare as an anti-Assault unit. Even if he loses he wins, as his necrodermis' destruction causes the obliteration of almost any unit that might have killed him. I can't actually seem to scare anyone off with his magic, however.

The Tomb Spyders do very well against assaulters, because you can't charge most of them, and after you get your charge the remainder surround and attack you. The tomb spyders work like power fists from among the scarabs.
