Default HSC or equivilant...then to Schoolies?

Hey.

So is there anyone else on these boards sitting there HSC (or your states equivilant) in what, a week and half now is it?

I know I am and I could not be more excited... :

If so, which exams/subjects have you got?

I myself have got Engish Adv, Mathematics, Modern History, Physics and Drama.

And then also.

Who's going to schoolies up on the Gold Coast?

Might see you there.

Bahaha.... HSC was useless.

Been finished for 2 years now and all I needed it for was a uni course which i dropped anyway!

Hahahaha, All I've ever been told by people who have already done it was that as soon as it was over, never mattered again.

To do what I want to do, I don't actually need an ATAR (UAI), based on interviews/experience so yeah, I'm not that fussed about it, although doing nicely won't harm me and might help as aback up plan.

I'm psyched to finally finish school though.

I am doing my HSC (or equivalent) and once it is over I will be hitting up 4ok harder then ever.
Unfortunately not going to schoolies in the gold coast, heading south instead.

And that is correct, its to get into your course, which you can get into if you do well enough in another course, and after that, it never matters again.
See you soon Rejivar >

I don't have to do the HSC, or any eqivalent - one of the perks of living in Canberra :P(which only partially offsets all of the annoying things about living in Canberra, like the virtual lack of decent, regular, cheap public transport >)

Really? I never knew that.

How do they work out things like University Applications etc?

Our final score is based upon our grades throughout years 11 and 12, scaled against our results in the ACT Scaling Test - so in a sense we do have an HSC equivalent, but it doesn't affect our grades as much. The AST is used to ensure fair marking across the board; we don't have one huge exam at the end of it all like you guys.

Yeah, but they only count the best few units. The maths behind it all is a bit arcane, but it basically means you can get away with flunking one or two units per semester, and completely bombing out in one semester won't be the end of it for you. It also means you get a general idea of what your UAI/ATAR will be ahead of time.

Of course, we still get schoolies

I've got two exams left - extension 1 English and Drama... and to be honest, I don't really give a damn about either one of them ;D

Rejivar, did you have to do Skrzynecki and/or Weldon for English?
