Default Malaysia: Games Circle is closing.

I found out about Games Circle from the Star newspaper article, at that time I was still in school I think. I was still very new to Warhammer, and I normally buy my GW products at this bookstore in KLCC that stock a tiny range of GW products. When I heard of this independent stockist near my area I was thrilled. So off I go to pay a visit.

When I arrived I was welcomed by Richard, there I was very excited with the showcase section, where painted miniatures were being displayed. The crowd was good, it was a sunny afternoon and I grabbed a cold drink. Then I browse through the cabinets of products and choose my first miniature, the Warhammer Fantasy Khorne Champion.

I went home that day with a smile. And from that day onwards I was there at GC every Friday, Saturday and Sunday without fail. I game and paint and watch movies there and I love it.

I don't normally have a car, so Richard will sometimes send me home when GC closes, we have late night meals and DVD store browsing before he send me home, Richard was more of a friend to me, he was a brother.

As the months goes by hard times fell on GC, a lot of hard things happened. One Friday as me and Richard sat on the coffee shop having a drink, he told me... ''Carl, this July I am closing GC down''. I wept that day.

The beloved community of tabletop gamers and painters, the place where we hang out every weekend. Is closing down.

GC closes at the end of July, 1 last shipment is coming, we will be throwing 1 last party. If you guys want to come please do. There may not be another Game Circle anymore.

I heard it from Tetrino that GC was closing.

It's even harder to game here anymore, knowing Comic Mart's down and GC's gone.

Dude, now you want to make me want to cry! But yeah, it's kinda sad. GC is the venue I always go to on Saturdays and waste my time as well as to escape from the problems at home and school. And I meet you guys and you were and are the most friendliest bunch of guys I've ever met especially Richard. I consider him as my Primarch.

But man, you made it sound like a funeral. I say don't worry about it. The important thing is we're still around to hang around each other. The place may be gone but the people is still here. We just need another place to gather and hang out.

My reaction is more of solemn understanding for I understand that things will not last forever. However, I would say we should not mourn, but celebrate the good times we got from the place. GC is a place that change lives, and indeed now we are at a crossroads of Malaysian wargaming. So we must not despair, but look up and walk tall. Richard would not want us to be sad sods, he would want us to be loud-dyi bastards.

So who wants to drink with me? Seriously, when I mean drinking, I mean alcohol. I would want to drink in memory of the place.

EDIT:

I heard about that as well. When will CM be closing?

Aye a toast to GC and it's loyal members! It was a good 7 years!

As for Comics Mart, I was there yesterday. The owner said Mid Valley Comics Mart is now an independent stockist. They are bringing thier stocks from another supplier. So I'm sure they will be changing their name soon. But the question is, how long can they last?

Wow, that's surprising. I'm in Singapore right now and the Comic Mart chain here had filed for bankruptcy that they're moving on to another retailer. At least CM's still going on.

Not sure. From what I have heard, they are not exactly making a loss, but not gaining much either. So the question is, how much are they willing to pump to make it afloat before they realize that it is hard to do so?
