Default Forum Crackdown on Grammar

Just so you guys are aware and to tighten up on some of the laxity that have crept in recently with regards to grammar, particularly with capitalisation.

So take this as a note to be a little more careful with your grammar in the next few weeks and you shouldn't have much trouble with the mods and staff.

If you have any problems/concerns with this, please feel free to contact me.

Kind regards,
FT

Is there any leeway given for those of us who have English as a second (or third, or seventeenth) language?

I'd accept any grammar, spelling, and/or capitalization corrections for my posts as quite justified, but I'm not sure I'd like to see people with worthy contributions being chased out for not growing up learning all the inconsistencies and vagarities of the English language...

I always look up the Country of the poster.

If he's from somewhere other then an English speaking country, I try to focus on basic grammar: punctuation, capitalization and the most blatant mistakes, remove L33T...the basic stuff you learn in school

If he's from an English speaking country, I'm more strict.

Might be because, I am not a native English speaker myself.

In your case and everybody else who isn't a native English speaker etc - Just try your best, if there's a word you can seem to spell, use Google to find the spelling, or even an English dictionary (if you have one :P) hopefully a Mod (such as Boneguard) - will look at your Profile and sees that English isn't your mother tongue, so he/she will either edit your post and correct the Grammar etc, or let you off, but certainly not in a leeway-case, because everyone tries their best to make their post suitably presentable, even if they're not English.

We're not going to penalise anyone who is at least making an effort to write in proper English - this is the important factor, not that their posts are perfect.

I actually am a native English speaker, which is why I stated that any corrections sent my way, no matter how minor, are justified in my own case.

I'm glad that mods aren't necessarily looking for literary perfection, and I'm doubly glad to know that we won't be chasing away those blasted foreigners!
