Default Just say no to bugs

The Tyranid are the worst threat to the Imperium at the moment (my opinion at any rate), their numbers, evolution and single-minded, unrelenting intelligence makes them the poster-creeps for Armageddon.

What I'm thinking and I don't know maybe I'm wrong but I could see Humans, Tua and Eldar 'uniting' for a brief time to thwart the Tyranid. And by human's I mean chaos as well, after all it's their galaxy to conquer right?

So how do you think (fluff-wise) they will be stopped?

They'll never be concluslively stopped. Seperate Hive Fleets will come, do damage, be splintered, do somem more damage and then finally be picked off by various forces.

Tyranids will never be killed, their immunity to Instant Death is proof of their ability to defy logic/sense.

And Chaos will never ally with the Imperium. They're just too different really.

All the fluff we've been reading states that a huge invasion force more numerous than the whole of the Imperium is on its way to our galaxy. At that point it raises the above question, how will such a massive, organized force be stopped? Saying it will never happen goes against everything that is believed by the Imperium. So for purpose of this thread take it for granted it will happen and also take for granted it will be stopped eventually- how in your opinion will it be stopped and what will be the cost and development of such an effort?

And I fully believe a temporary cease-fire would be called between Imperials and chaotics if the only other choice was death for all, only the orks would be short-sighted enough to think otherwise.

Let the Tau fight them.

Even better...let the ORKS fight them...as has been said "If the individual Ork bands were ever to unite under one Warboss then there would be enough Orks to destroy the Imperium"

SOOOOOO we hide behing a wall of Orks and the fighting will end when either A) The Orks are dead (highly unlikely due to their rate of "reproduction")
B) The Tyranid are dead (highly unlikely due to their vass numbers)
C) "Good guys" get bored, enter war, get boned in the butt by both Orks and 'Nids

Basically, you could do one of two things. Individual Tyranid Hive Fleets can adapt to most forms of chemical or biological attack, so just killing them with a new weapon is not enough.

So you need to find a way to permanantly sever a fleet's connection to the Hive Mind, and then defeat it completely. If nothing survives your super-weapon, Tyranids in that engagement will not be able to return information to the Hive Mind, and they will not adapt.

The alternative would be finding a way to disrupt their ability to travel or navigate in the Warp. With no ability to travel above impulse speed, that hive fleet would starve to death crossing the void between worlds before it worked out a way to restore itself.

These solutions are probably within the eventual capabilty of all of the 40k races aside from the Orks, who can rely on their durability to fight the Tyranids differently.

But the nids can use Orks to strengthen the hive fleet. Aren't biovores built on dead orks?

The Tau are physically smaller and weaker, so they will not be suitable for creating bigger and stronger tyranids.

Chaos could probably disrupt their Warp travel, but the Imperium?

The Emperor certainly has it within his power, but is he even aware??

I have only one thing to say. Go thoughout the Imperium and collect as many soldiers, and marines as possible, from every planet across the Imperium, ally with both Tau and Eldar.

Then you could rally one of the most unstoppable forces imaginable, this army would strip any plannet bare and outnumber any enemy, and the Navy would be ridiculously huge, and with such a force, my idea would be. Find the Hive Mind! You kill there leader the synapse will be severed and the Tyranids would crumble against any foe in battle.

That's not true, Tyranids use Rippers to scour across any world they destroy, and collect all foods and nutrients. Once finished they return to digestion pools all across the surface of the planet and digested. After they have collected the foods etc , they are turned into a source from which they can recreate any variant of a Tyranid, they even kill there own wounded Tyranids to reproduce.

When you're fighting a galactic scale enemy adding Tau and Eldar isn't really going to help much. Neither of them fight on such vast strategic levels. :-\
