Default How does the Imperuim keep time?

can someone tell me how the Imperium marks dates. Im working on stuff for a Dark Heresy rpg and i need to know how to make the days.

If someone could tell how and give an example thatd be great.

0410008.M3

0 is the authentication mark denoting how accurate the date is.

410 is the year fraction in 1/1000ths

008 is the actual year of the millennium

.M3 is the millennium it is part of.

Keep in mind that planets are likely to have their own timekeeping system; the "Year Fraction" is not going to be widely used, as it translates into 8.766 hours (or 8 hours, 45 minutes 57.6 seconds) per segment. By simple logic, you're going to need a much more precise measurement!
