thought I'd put this out there,
Most of my Gaming group have been playing from the 1st ed game and we have always assumed that the fantasy world is a seriously screwed up 'feral' planet in the 40k universe, undiscovered and unknown in the present time by all known races. Does anyone have any comments?

How does that affect your game, actually?
Does that mean you play 40K against Fantasy?...

but haven't the games diverged somewhat? This is just our interpretation of fluff, anyway it seems utterly isolated, collapsed webgates, half in the warp and all. Although in the Necron book doesn't it say that you can use the lizardman list to represent a degenerate slann and retinue?

Four simple words that disprove it: 'The winds of magic'.

from reading the 'Realm of Chaos' books
slaves to darkness / the lost and the damned In them the worlds were related and warbands could (rarely) move between them <theory> fantasy world is a lab of the old ones, when the gates collapsed and the planet was wreathed in warpstorms, the ancient monuments and the actions of the elder races (elves?) stemmed the tide. the winds of magic are the effects of the warp limited by these 'wards' as I said haven't the games diverged since then, in fluff and mechanics?

Another thing that bothers me if the huge amounts of species that have developed on one planet, you could say it was their testing ground but it just doesn't fit with the necron fluff. Besides why would the chaos gods let some of there minions have such advanced technology when others are still in the 'medieval' stages when they take such an interest in the medieval people?

In answer to that, the Chaos gods have an odd sense of humour. Perhaps they thought it would be fun to have a Medieval world where their minions killed people with large wooden sticks, and didn't give them all Heavy Bolters because they wanted to stick around and watch them beat each other up, and giving them guns would ruin the fun.

I've seen this kind of thread rise up on occasion here and it always seems to get shot down. I like the idea but my only problem with it is that the Orcs are different from the Orks. I remember hearing that Orcs don't reproduce by spores and there's the fact that Orcs lack Mekboyz and other similar... classes.
Otherwise it sounds like a fine theory, -Grandpa Ducky |
