Default Lasgun controversy

Alright. It's been awhile since I last played Fire Warrior... But look, the Fire Warrior version of the lasgun fires like a machine gun, sort of like the blaster weapons from Star Wars. However, in Dawn of War, lasguns fire in a single straight line, like a laser. Which is the real way? ???

Neither.

The Lasgun is semi-automatic, so won't fire as fast as it does in Dawn of War. Nor does it fire "beams".

Actually, I'd imagine there is no "right" way, as there are many different makes and models of lasgun. Each forgeworld creates it's own "pattern", or version of the basic gun. For your own preference, just use whatever image you like best .

As Wargamer commented, a Lasgun fires on semi-automatic - probably comparable to a modern assault rifle on single-shot setting. The Dawn of War version, at least in terms of RoF, is probably closer to what you'd get from a Hot-Shot pack.

So they fire like the Halo 2 battle rifle? A few shots set loose every time you pull the trigger?

Maybe.
However, semi-auto means that you fire once for each pull of the trigger.
I personally think Lasguns would have a fire selector lever/switch/thing similar to modern assault rifles.
And, if the laws of physics were to be obeyed (not likely here :P) then it would look like a line from rifle to target, it would last maybe a tenth of a second, and would only be visible in a dense atmosphere.

Also, what color laser do lasguns fire??

On the cadian box sets, they fire yellow. In the games, it's red. Which is the real type??

I've always assumed it to be red.

The colour 'fired' by the lasgun would dependent on the focusing material (crystal, gas chamber, etc).
Rubies would create red beams, Argon Gas would be Blue (maybe, been a while since I did physics), Neon Gas would be Green, Diamond would be Clear, etc.

We've seen red, yellow and blue bolts/beam to my knowledge - as RZ said, it would depend on the focus and thus on the pattern of lasgun. Take your pick.
