Default Might Sound Morbid - How Long Does The Emperor Have Left?

"The Emperor's broken body was discovered by Rogal Dorn who, following the Emperor's instructions, oversaw the Emperor's re-connection to the Golden Throne, an arcane device to sustain his spirit. The Emperor has remained in the Golden Throne since his 'ascension' to this day, neither fully living nor wholly dead. Although initially designed as the hub of the Emperor's project to colonise the webway, the Golden Throne also functions as a complex life support device. The Golden Throne itself lies in the Sanctum Imperialis, which is guarded by the Emperor's Custodian Guard, also known as the Adeptus Custodes. The Emperor's decaying physical form is preserved and his life functions are carried out by carefully maintained machinery"

There's a history lesson for everybody....so how long does he have left?

Unless someone walks in there and lays a Fusion Bomb on his lap, forever. Just like a Dreadnaught Sarcophogus the Golden Throne will keep it's occupant alive forever. So unless Terra falls there is no limit to the Emperor's life span... or semi-life, semi-death state... thing. You get the idea.

Yeah true! given that im no medical specialist but after while i'd imagine the emperor's body (corpse), flesh and organic matter would rot to the point were its just the emperors brain in some sort chamber filled with some sort of mineral rich liquid.lol.

I imagine the life support putting him in a sort of suspended animation, meaning he will be like that forever, never healing, but not decaying either.

Well, it's only a matter of time before Terra falls. We all know that it'll happen one day. But until then, I agree with the others. He's neither living or dead, and he'll stay that way until the Tyranids eat him.

No Terra will never fall. GW will NEVER bring the 40k universe to an end, it will continue on forever in it's perpetual state of constant war. Besides the Imperium is not as strong as it may once have been but it's not exactly weak either and there are a lot of contenders, none of them allied.

The Emperor will live on, and the universe will continue. That's just how it's going to be.

A comparison - attacking terra itself would be like a gretchen taking on titan at the moment i think, but fluff-wise, eventally (well im hope'n) that Gw will have some sort of great crusade on Terra and determine the outcome from that! Well hopefully in my gaming lifetime.

Lol, a gretchen and a titan, i'd love to see that one. A final battle for terra in our lifetime would be very cool, but yeah, i dont think gamesworkshop would let it fall.

Because a Dreadnought cannot sustain him.

The Emperor requires hundreds of souls every day to sustain him, and these must be Psykers. The Golden Throne keeps him alive indefinately, but the power required is massive. No Dreadnought could ever sustain him, even if it were the size of an Imperator Titan.
