i was just thinking, since we already have bug spray and the 'nids are bugs, why dosen't the imperium use bug spray on them? or do they even work on the ni'd for the matter :

Krakan rounds, as far as I know, use an adamantine core and a more powerful propellant to increase there ability to punch through armour.

Err well your talking about an alien life form thats not even remotly related to bugs. Bug spray wouldent work on them for the same reaosn it wouldent work on us.

Well, the thing about tyranids is that they aren't exactly insects. That's the first point that I would think of first.

Why doesn't the imperium use chemical weapons on the nids?

Well, actually they do!

Hellfire bolter rounds were designed specifically to combat they tyranids. Also in some desperate situations they will use exterminatus on a planet the nids have taken in order to destroy all life on it before it can be devoured by the hive mind.

Chemical/Biological weapons, sure. But 'bug-spray'? Do me a favour... :

Without getting into flaming, the original poster has a logical point. I'm sure he meant weaponising the contents of bug spray to a larger level, in effect, a chemical weapon/ Unfortunately it wouldn't work as it's a common misconception that the Tyranids are 'bugs' (especially within the Imperial Guard) when in fact they're not related to insect species, the only thing they have in common are the six legs and some common imagery.

Officially, they are more akin to 'alien dinosaurs' (straight from Games Workshop's mouth) which is understandable if you look at the general look of the bigger creatures (warriors and upwards) plus, the clue is in the name Tyran. At the end of the day the Tyranids are utterly alien and are unique to themselves but if we were to try and link them to a certain type of creature, I would say they were fairly close to crustaceans.

Also, I'm pretty certain GW has said the nids owe more to dinosaurs than bugs. So drop asteroids on them.
