The Kroot of the Bladeswift Cadre (my army) have come from a sort of barbaric kroot world. These kroot have always beleived that painting ritualistic markings and warpaint on their bodies and armor will grant them more luck and strength in battle. After they had joined up with the Bladeswift Cadre, these Kroot had noticed that the allies they faught with did not use these markings, so the kroot went into the barraks, stole all the Tau armor and weapons, and painted the markings on themself. The Tau then awoke to see their armor was covered in odd orange markings and symbols. They just went along with whatever the Kroot were trying to proove just so they did not upset their long-time allies.

Does it sound stupid? I've painted small markings onto my Tau trooper's armor (save the ethereal, gun drones, hammerhead, and pathfinders). And I'm going to paint alot of the markings onto my Kroot (once I get them). Does this sound dumb?

I doubt such rational creatures would believe in fortune or be supersticious. I do believe, however, that the Tau Empire would be willing to assimilate beneficial cultural aspects of their auxillaries into their society. I'd say go for it but maybe leave out the part where the kroot painted the armor themselves. Have the Fire Warriors due it by completing the kroot rites of battle. This way they could also use kroot bits for a more rugged, ritualistic image.

I agree with Frogger, just say the Tau did it to bond with the Kroot. I use warpaint heavily in my Tau army as well, thouh mostly cause my commander is from D'Yanoi which I've always believed became more ritualistic when it was seperated from the Empire. As a side note, the Fire Caste have always been very ritualistic since the Taus inception, its in the original Index Xenos article.

I could see Kroot doing that. They seem to have a certain wry sense of humor when it comes to dealing with the Tau.

I kind of like that idea. Its original, and not overly unrealistic. Be prepared to explain ti quite often though.

I scrapped the idea awhile ago. My new scheme makes them look exactly like they do in Dark Crusade. (The Fire Warriors, at least...)

Why would you scrap it. I liked that idea better than the Fire Warriors in Dark Crusade. Gives the army a cool character to it.

Meh, the painting was already getting sloppy anyways (looks incredably thick now) I don't think I'll be painting my current troops over anymore. Once I get some Kroot, I'll give em the warpaint.
