Those who are well aware of what happens on this forum know that I have written two codices so far. I also have one WHFB Army list under my belt, just to mention... :
All you are familiar with "Codex: Finnish Defence Forces" and "Codex: Gue'vesa (Damocles Uash'o)". Right?? ;D

The bottom line is, that I decided that I need a new project to work with. I just love to make these codices and get them as close to perfect balance as possible.

The new project will be quite challenging. I need help from those of you who are familiar with Imperial Guard and Space Marines fluff. I want to create a very (VERY!!!) specialised Army, or actually a regiment. I would be some kind of combination of Marines and Guard (a bit Eldarish maybe). Expensive, fast, small units, good guns, not as heavy as marines... Designed to operate as a strategic strike force against high tech opponents like Tau and Eldar.
What comes to fluff, that is where I mostly need you. I thought that this force would be formed and trained in planet called New Hope(the planet exists in 40k universe, in Ultima Segmentum, close to "borders" of Segmentum Solar and Segmentum Tempestus. It is an Imperial Frontier world which involved in the Tyranid Hive Fleet Leviathan invasion in 997.M41.

I have few questions for those more familiar with the fluff:
Can I make this codex?
Can I make up new weapons for this unit?
Can I use the world I chose?
Any fluffy naming themes?
Anything else?

Please, please, please help me out with this!!

Depends. You will have a hard job with the fluff side of this, as there has to be a reason why they are just emerging now. This could be quite extensive and good, if you do it well.

Can I make up new weapons for this unit?
Yes. But because they are Imperial weapons, they would have been originally Adeptus Mechanis. They would have to be ancient weapons supped up. So like an edited version of the Plasma gun. Also, fluff comes into this. Are they religious radicals? If so, alien tech is out of the question. If not, then you may want to consider, stolen tech being incorporated into their own tech.

Can I use the world I chose?
Yes. The Imperium is so vast that it wouldn’t matter, just make up a planet.

Any fluffy naming themes?
Latin. Gothic. And Greek. Also, go for epic grand names like Regal Dorn. That’s pretty epic for a name.

Anything else?
You may want to consider giving them a specific hatred first. Daemon Hunters hate Daemons, Witch Hunters hate Witches, SM hate Chaos, Imperial Guard hate Orks. These guys could hate Eldar, or even seek to steal Eldar knowledge. This gives for a cool HQ story, of an Inquisitor in your army wanting access to the Black Library.

I've used to make compromisses and bending the fluff for my needs. No big problem there.

The training was started after Hive Fleet Leviathan invasion was sorted out. The Imperium had noticed crying demand of highly trained unreligeous strike force that could both resist and execute strategic strikes. The need of such forece was most immidiet when fighting against of hightly sophisticated Alien races, Eldar and Tau.
The planet New Hope was chosen because of its reacent war which provided a respectable ammount of veteran fighters. Also, the name of the planet was concidered symbolic.

Wow, didnt know it already exists... Well is there much fluff on it? If so, you cant use it problly. If there isnt to much you can use it, even if there is you can use itt but some people may object...

Only for origin. There is pretty much as much fluff as I posted in my first post. At least thats all I found. I just seemed suitable.

i can help with the fluff if you need it. although i would love to make new unit types/models.

p.s i never told you what happened in thebattle i fought using FDF rules. The came was actually against orks! although the fact it was on a snow board was because i went into the back and found a snow boarrd to use. It was a very fun and competitive army to use. i'll give you some more details if you want them though.

I would love that!!
What you think of making the Skis to be Skis/Bicycle (for winter/summer) so you wouldn't need opponents premission for using them. They would give fleet of skis/wheels.

I do need help with all three things you said. Fluff for units and the "birth" fluff for the army, some new unit types and es specially models. I'm broke, at the moment, to be honest so I can't afford to get bits and stuff I would need for converting the models.

I imagine the Strike Walker(Reguesting more epic name) to be like these, but closed and airtight with some sort of Deep Strike equipment. The weapons would be on the sides. They must look fast... Like runing a stursi, you know.

i think that making it a ski/biclcle unit would make it really cool. i tried to get a few of each unit in the game so i could see how they worked together and it was a big game (like 2500 points) so that was pretty easy to do. The main thing i thought was that the regular infantry didn't seem to be worth the points... maybe 1 or 2 points less. I can post a full thing later but i had a long day and i'm kinda tired so i'll do it later on the actual FDF thread.

as for the models, do you want them to be more heavily armoured than regular guardsmen? also should they carry bolters, lasguns or this thing that i just came up with.

bolt carbine (the name sucks but whatever)

range 18"
S 4
AP 5
assault 2


the gun is basically intended for close range range fire fights and since they are drop troopers they will probably be in closer then regular troops would. I will make a model as soon as i'm sure on what you want. I can do some sketches too if you want.

For infantry maybe 4+ save.
I don't know if we can use a bolter with this army, bechose it has religeous meanings in the Imparium. I thought of modifications from Autogun and Combat Shotgun; a flamer guy here and there.. Some dedicated close combat guys with Inflitration and Jet Pack for Elites.
I think that adding knee and elbow pads for regular Caidians an modifying the weapon could be easy enought...

Mayby it could be the gun you suggest just with name Stormgun??

sure... i can sketch up/make a prototype gun tonight. but if you want this to be highly specialized thenthey should have specialized wepondry (the stormgun) not just an autogun here and a shotgun there.
