Default Tau Rank Chart

Since GW stated that the rank in the tau armies was designated by helmet colors, no one seems to have tried a different way of showing the differences. I was guessing, how did tau recognize between themselves in a battle if each sept has a different color scheme, and different colors for the rankings? so I thought that Tau instead had a similar way to designate rank than humans, apart from the helmet colors. I've made a rank chart for the tau, basing on the stripe pattern they use so often, they could wear this stripes in the helmet, chest or shoulder pads (depending on availability). Of course this examples are idealized ones, in the armors they would be plain colors. Note also that this rank chart not only includes the five classic ranks (La, Ui, Vre, El and O) but also the honour ranks (both gameplay used and not). I've also included the human auxiliaries rank chart (including the rank Rook Hawkings acquired in the unfinished novel "From Gue'La to Warrior": Gue'Vesa'Vre)
Well, here are the pics, what do you think?

Sounds like a good idea; the problem is that you would need to convince them to make them for those water sticky transfer things

This rank chart it's just a suggestion for players. You know, these marks can be easily painted or taken from the already GW transfer sheet (with a bit of cut and paste). As the complexity of the mark increases with rank, you just only have to paint a few of the more complex ones. Anyway, as said, it's just an idea to unify criteria.

Interesting concept, there is only one flaw I can see - there's no such thing as a Shas'La Teamleader!

Sorry, I forgot that. I was confused by the leader upgrade in crisis and broadsides teams. Just ignore that rank.

i think you can buy printable transdfer paper from places. if so, just copy those ranks, print them on transfer paper, and viola! new transfers! that should get you round the transfer problems! now where to get transfer paper.....

nice idea!

Tau rank markings are my least fav thing of Tau. I prefer to use antennae color to denote rank...

You could argue that the "Shas'La Team Leader" rank would be for normal Shas'La. The rank you listed as "Shas'La" would be Shas'saal.

Actually, there are some of those already on the Tau transfer sheet...

Thinking on this further, I don't like the term "team leader"... there should surely be some Tau equivalent.

How about "Shas'Ar'Ui" (a "High" rank) or "Shas'Y'Ui" (a "First" rank).

I have used elsewhere the rank of "Shas'Ar'O" to describe a Shas'O who serves the Shas'Ar'Tol, so perhaps the Y' prefix infront of their rank is the way forward...

The rank of "Shas'Y'La" would still be applicable; not all squads are lead by Shas'Ui, and as such squads without a Shas'Ui would need a command figure... whilst not always superior to his companions on the field (in the same way a Guard/Marine sergeant does not get stat-upgrades unless they are 'Veteran&#39, the position is needed for the sake of completeness in the chain of command.
