Default Re: Tau ship-to-ship engagements

Actually, they donīt have to stay up close, but they have to constantly close to the enemy to keep the weapons in arc.

From long range they fire torpedo salvoes and bomber waves, from medium range fire with railgun batteries and when close add ion cannons.

If by the time they pass enemy ships they havenīt crippled them, they are in trouble, but if they start from long distance, they can make a good punch with torpedes before the opponent has a chance to get in gun range.

At best they are slowly moving towards enemy fleet, forcing bracing and scattering of fleet with salvoes and bombers. Hopefully this leads enemy fleet to bad position by the time the are in weapon range, and Tau can take advantage of this.
